Junior Graphic Designer

Carta Plena Design is growing and is in search of a Junior Graphic Designer / Design Assistant to join our team.

Our projects are becoming ever more complex and innovative, and we’re seeking talented people with solid work ethics and a real passion for design & print to help us make it happen.

This role will assist on projects from onset to completion in a variety of ways. Alongside the daily responsibilities, this person will have the opportunity to learn and grow hands-on in their design experience across a diverse range of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support and work alongside our lead designer in a hands-on studio environment

  • Primarily focus on Carta Plena’s Collection Designs — working within established layouts to deliver ongoing wedding stationery and printed goods

  • Typesetting

  • Compiling design proofs

  • Preparing files for print

  • Assisting the production team with assembly and outgoing orders when necessary

  • Project Management

  • Photography/documenting finished projects and updating the website

Opportunity to:

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop

  • Proficient in Google Drive and Gmail

  • Strong typographic skills and an eye for color and composition

  • A passion for luxury paper goods, wedding stationery & branding

  • Willingness to learn and grow with the company

  • Project management skills

  • Enjoys & understands the creative process

  • DIY & Prototyping skills

Bonus

  • Experience designing for print  (preparing files for digital & specialty printing methods)

  • Illustration and/or calligraphy skills

  • Photography skills and photo styling experience

  • Curiosity for technology and new products

  • Knowledge of Squarespace, Dubsado, Google Drive

What to expect

25 - 30/hours per week to start with the potential to grow
Must be available to work in our SE Portland office at least 3x week
